Why This Site Exists
K-beauty moves faster than the English-language coverage of it. Ingredients reach Korean shelves and Korean-language reviews long before they are explained clearly to readers abroad, and by the time an explanation arrives it has usually been filtered through marketing copy, affiliate roundups, or short-form video that rewards excitement over accuracy.
KpopDirect exists to close that gap in one specific way: by explaining what a Korean skincare category or ingredient actually is, what the available evidence does and does not support, and who can reasonably skip it.
How This Site Is Written
Every guide on KpopDirect follows the same editorial discipline:
- Evidence before enthusiasm. Claims are grounded in published sources — PubMed-indexed literature, the American Academy of Dermatology, DermNet, the Cleveland Clinic, and comparable public health bodies — not brand pages or retailer copy.
- Honest uncertainty. Cosmetic ingredient research is often early-stage or drawn from conditions that differ from home use. Where that is true, the article says so rather than rounding the evidence up into a promise.
- Limits stated plainly. Guides include what a product cannot do and when a reader should skip it. A recommendation that never says “no” is not useful.
- No selling. KpopDirect sells nothing and earns no commission on any product. There is no incentive to talk a reader into a purchase.
What DK Editor Is Not
DK Editor is not a dermatologist, physician, pharmacist, or licensed skincare professional, and does not provide medical advice. Nothing published on KpopDirect should be used to diagnose or treat a skin condition.
This is stated plainly rather than blurred, because a great deal of online skincare writing borrows medical authority it does not have. Where a topic requires clinical grounding, KpopDirect cites published sources and links to them, so readers can check the original rather than take an editor’s word for it. Where the evidence is thin, the article says the evidence is thin.
Editorial Responsibility
DK Editor is responsible for source selection, factual accuracy, and final review of every article on this site, and for issuing corrections when they are needed. Published guides are revisited and updated as ingredient research, product categories, and public health guidance change.
