KpopDirect publishes independent English-language guides to K-beauty, Korean skincare, and K-pop beauty culture. This page explains how we research, write, review, and correct our content.
What We Publish
We publish explanatory guides about cosmetic skincare categories, ingredients, routines, and beauty trends. We do not publish medical advice, treatment plans, diagnoses, or product endorsements.
How We Research
We prioritise primary and institutional sources over marketing material. Where we cite evidence, we draw from sources such as peer-reviewed literature indexed by PubMed, the American Academy of Dermatology, DermNet, the Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, and comparable public health bodies.
We do not cite brand websites, retailer product pages, or affiliate blogs as evidence for how an ingredient behaves.
How We Handle Uncertainty
Cosmetic ingredient research is often limited, early-stage, or based on conditions that differ from everyday home use. When that is the case, we say so directly in the article.
We deliberately avoid language such as “miracle,” “cure,” or “guaranteed results.” We use conditional phrasing — may help, evidence is limited, results vary by formula — because that reflects what the available research actually supports.
What We Do Not Do
We do not diagnose skin conditions. We do not recommend prescription treatments. We do not tell readers to start or stop medical care. We do not claim that any cosmetic product treats acne, rosacea, eczema, melasma, or any other medical condition.
Articles that touch on teen skincare are written to be age-appropriate and conservative, and they direct readers to a qualified healthcare professional for persistent or severe concerns.
Commercial Independence
KpopDirect does not sell products and is not owned by, funded by, or operated on behalf of any skincare brand or retailer.
We do not accept payment in exchange for coverage, placement, or favourable framing. If we introduce advertising, affiliate links, or sponsored content in future, those relationships will be disclosed clearly on the pages where they appear. See our Disclaimer page for current status.
Reviews, Updates, and Corrections
Ingredient research and product formulations change. We review published articles periodically and update them when guidance, sourcing, or context needs to change. Substantive updates are reflected in the date shown on each article.
If you believe something on this site is inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date, email us at contact@kpopdirect.com with the article link and the issue. We review every correction request and will amend the article where a correction is warranted.
Use of Editorial Tools
Our articles are researched, structured, sourced, edited, and fact-checked by a human editor before publication. We use software tools in parts of our drafting and production workflow, including illustrative imagery, but source selection, editorial judgement, and final review are human decisions, and we take responsibility for what we publish.
